What I've done over half term

Over half term, I came in twice to fine tune my work and also make a few alterations, as I thought that my magazine was not of as high a standard that I wanted. I have also been trying to work at home, to get on with my questions which I plan to have completely finished in the next month, before coursework deadlines.

New photos

I have taken more pictures for my magazine. Here are a few of my photos.

The first of the photos originally looked different, but I accidentally saved over it when I had finished editing. When taking more pictures, we bought semi-permanent coloured hairspray to add effect to the picture.

Update on magazine

Since my last update I have made a lot of progress with my magazine. I have almost completed my contents page and double page spread.
For my double page spread, I took inspiration from various magazine articles (pictures below), I thought these would fit with my magazine, as they are quite bold, but still very simple.

Plan for next week

Next week I plan to take more pictures for my contents page and start drafting my contents page, I will do this using photoshop.

I will use NME as my style model again for my contents page.

Coursework update: Magazine cover

For the past couple of months I have been working on my music magazine cover, this is what I have done so far. After a lot of consideration, I decided to call my magazine uLove, because it connects with the audience by including them & showing the music that my readers love. The genre of my music magazine is pop music. I chose to use bright colours because it will stand out against other magazine covers & will attract the eye of potential readers. I wanted to do a simple cover because I think that a cluttered magazine cover would look unprofessional & messy, therefore would not attract readers. I will put this on facebook to see if it attracts potential readers, as my magazine is aimed at 16-24 year olds.

I used this as my style model, I have decided not to include some of the features of this magazine for reasons that I expressed before. However, my magazine cover is still not finished so I may add some more of the features in the future.

This magazine has a very basic structure & a clear house style of blue and white. The simplicity of this structure makes the image the main focus, because there is not much else on the magazine. The heavy use of bright colours would also attract the potential readers. Lack of cover lines may make potential readers want to see what is actually inside.

This magazine cover will provide inspiration for my magazine and I will include the following things on my cover:
*Logo(shortened down version of magazine name, Crazy Beautiful Music, or as it will be shown on my magazine CBM)
*Main Image
*Price, date & barcode
*Main cover line
*Extra cover lines

reflection on preliminary task

for my media preliminary task i created a school magazine front cover & a contents page, for this i had to use Photoshop. 
i think that i did a good layout for my front cover by keeping it simple & clear. I used a simple house style consisting of purple & gold, which i thought would be two good contrasting colours for my school magazine as they are often considered quite regal and elegant. 
i think that i could have improved on my organisation and planning, as prior to creating my cover & contents page i didn't do very much planning, i just came up with my ideas as i went along. Also, my contents page was not finished in time, so my time management was not very good either.
Before starting this project, i had very little, basic skills on photoshop. during the making of my magazine though, i learned a lot about how to manipulate an image e.g. how to crop the image, how to remove the background.
   I think that my shot composition was very basic, and not very well thought through, so when it comes to my main task, I should make better use of mis en scene & what i have available.
